Turkey Ham in a mamak?

Thursday, December 29, 2005

Williams_TurkeyHamCheeseNaan, originally uploaded by hanlian.

So after all the climbing and whatevers in 1 Utama, a bunch of us went over to William's in Taman Mayang to have dinner. We shared quite a few stuffs together, and this one is worth the mention. Turkey ham cheese naan. Just lovely! :P A good dish to share with friends, that's for sure. And also we had the usual, Ribena with longan and Roti Triple H. Pretty good way to end the day of exercising, burning fats with climbing...and with loads of fattening and oily food. :P

The other side of the gym.

Camp5_Top, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Now here's the other side of the climbing gym where the beginners/amateurs/pros can do their stuffs. :) Well, mostly the beginners and the intermediate climbers, below there are a few more walls but I think here's where all the action is...loads of different routes to take here.

I do love the carpet here though, I wonder if I can get them for my room? haha.. :P Anyways, it was really fun climbing again since I've not done it for quite a while now and after climbing almost half of the afternoon, I can safely say that I'm definitely in a very bad shape. Every part of my body is pretty much aching already, maybe it's just cause I'm not doing it the right way...oh well, bottom line is that I should get more exercise. :P

It got quite pack during the late afternoon, maybe cause it was the school holidays...our group already had about 10 people and I think around 4pm there was at least double the amount of people climbing. Crazy! But I guess during non-school holidays and weekdays, the crowd isn't that bad.

Really pity Suzanne cause she was the only one that couldn't climb because she was just 2 months away from turning 18. Everyone else was either over 18 or the brother/sister [legal guardian] was there to sign off on the forms. People, if you have been to the Summit climbing gym, this place is NOT like that. This gym [Camp-5] is the largest indoor climbing gym in Asia and they are certified...so the procedures here are a bit tighter than usual.

If you're under 18 and your brother/sister is not with you when you come here for the first time to climb. Bring along ur brother/sister/parents to sign off on the registration form. For first-timers here, it might take awhile to fill in the forms and whatnots, so better come about 1 hour earlier than you expect to start climbing. That's of course if you have climbed before and still remember how to.

Cause it took us about 1 hour today just to get in and start climbing, mostly because it was our first time so they had to explain all the safety stuffs and other things required by the international body that certifies their gym. But all in all, it was fun...i guess. If there wasn't that many people around, sometimes hogging the routes. :P Definitely better than the climbing gym in Summit but then again, there's no comparison, Camp-5 is certified by the British Mountain Council...so they have to be better. :)

Cool view?

Camp5_Lead&Boulder, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Now here's a closer view of what it is like from the inside. I'm sure most of those who use the LDP heading towards Kepong would look up to this climbing gym and see people climbing. Now sitting inside and watching is more fun, I have to say. This here is the section where lead-climbers do their stuffs. :) Pretty impressive.

A view from the top.

Camp5_View, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Now if you've been using the LDP for the past few months or been going to 1 Utama, I'm sure you would have seen the huge climbing gym that was recently completed on the new wing. If you have not been in there yet, here's a glimpse of the view from the inside of the climbing gym, called Camp-5. Ok,so the windows are a bit dirty but guess that's normal since this place is really quite high.

The day after Christmas.

Monday, December 26, 2005

Now what to do after all the months of practicing and preparing for the presentation on Christmas day and now it's all over. Sleep came first and then erm...erm... :) Nothing came to mind, maybe I'll just have to wait a little and all the other things that I've wanted to do during the times that was taken up by practices and whatnots for Christmas. :) Maybe I should start watching the movies that I've missed so far. :) Anyways, managed to find something to do by noontime...called 'Queen of the World' and asked her if her plans to watch King Kong today was still on. Found out that they wanted to have a little movie marathon at Li Ann's place after lunch at O&S in Paramount. So I figured since I had no idea what to do, I tagged along. :) So the four of us, 'Queen of the World', Donald, and Li Ann had loads of yong tau foo while waiting for our curry laksa mix. Pretty good stuffs, and I think in my opinion the best around town where they mix the curry and the assam laksa soup together, with a choice of either having the curry noodles' assortments of meat and stuffs or the assam laksa's assortments of whatever they put into assam laksas. :) Really delicious. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Ok,so this doesn't look that good but I kinda forgot to take the photo after I've mixed all the stuffs together with the lime and 'sambal'. ;) :P And lets not forget that the yong tau foo at O&S is really good. :) So good that we had to wait for the brinjals/eggplants and the other good stuffs cause it was all sold-out and they weren't fast enough to meet the demand. ;)

The brinjals/eggplants were just nice...well,I'm a bit bias since I love eating them. The ladyfingers/ocras were not too bad but I loved the tofu with fish paste. Just lovely. Not forgetting the fried 'sui kows', should have taken more of it. :P The best idea came after we had all of the food for lunch including a plate of fried 'koay teow' and we decided to go back to Li Ann's place for some dessert and the movie marathon of The Phantom Of The Opera and Chicken Little. So they went back to 'Queen of the World's place to get the sparkling juice and the Hershey's chocolate bars while I went to get fresh fruits for the mini fondue party. ;) I really enjoyed watching Chicken Little. It was really funny. haha, even though Morkubine Porcopine only had a few one-liners but he was quite funny too. haha. :) So since I used to sport the spiky hairstyle, the little gif picture should be do just nicely to represent me. ;) Since i've lost most of my curls, the afro-haired looking guy doesn't really represent my current look...well,neither does this porcupine but I think I'll wait til February or just before the end of January to get my curls back. :) Then my 'controlled mess' will be back and everything will be just fine again. :D Now back to my little wannabe fondue party and movie marathon. ;)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This was quite a big pear, golden pears I think they were called, 3 for RM 10. ;) Quite tasty, I must admit.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Doesn't the mangos looks so juicy? :) It was so sweet, just great. :D
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The honeydews weren't that nice after all but it was quite cheap. :) Didn't go well with the melted chocolate.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Now what's a fondue party without some drinks. :) Ok,so it isn't alcoholic but it was still good. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Ok,so it wasn't really a fondue party because we didn't have the pot of chocolate but at least we had the microwave oven and the melted Hershey's chocolate bars to have with the fruits. :) And it was really wonderful with the mangos. I wonder where can I find the fondue pots, maybe I just need to find a clay pot and that would do it. :) *yum* *yum*

The casualities.

Finally, it has ended. Another Christmas has come and gone. :) Took 4 men to take down all the equipments in church, 18 people to move the equipments from church to the hotel and back while about 8 people took 5 hours to install all the equipments back into place.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The alleged speaker that fell. This was taken when the guys were helping to put it back into place. The ladder that they were using were bought after the first ladder was broken at a nearby hardware store that cost RM400++. Now if we can manage to damage a industrial ladder, that would be interesting. haha. :P This year was really interesting because we had one man fall from the ladder, hurting his butt, and arm...while another almost fell from the ladder trying to take down a speaker, while the speaker fell and damaged a ladder. Really very eventful. :P Haven't had a year with so many interesting incidents. :) Want to take a look at the damaged ladder? :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I wonder if you can see where the damage on the ladder is. :) Anyways, all is fine now...I think. Everyone had fun, enjoyed themselves during the Christmas service, the kids had fun and gotten doorgifts. I got quite a lot of chocolates as Christmas gifts. Think next year, my resolution would be to gain more weight. ;) :P Maybe not. ;) I really have to lose those fats I've gained since I stopped my kickboxing. I miss my kickboxing, I miss going to TNT Kickboxing for classes. I miss the friends that i've met there and haven't seen for a long time. I wonder how are they doing. :) Guess it is time for me to shake off the dust on my gloves and go for some classes. ;)

The annual Christmas family dinner.

Sunday, December 25, 2005

As usual, after every Christmas service in church, we'll have family dinner at my aunt's place. And as every year before this, 3 families come together for dinner. Quite a loud affair but still good. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Fruit salad with erm...loads of fruits, starfruit, mango, apple, and erm..others with yogurt.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
One of the usual dishes that can be found in the many family dinners I've attended. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Now this isn't such a common dish, but then again, I'm not really into cooked salmon, more of a sushi salmon person. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
And the most common dish of all, pasta. but at least this time round its the shells type of pasta. Bottomline, still pasta.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Normal lar... :) garlic butter spread on bread. :) Nice touch, goes well with the chicken, the turkey, the pasta and the salad...not the fruit salad, the other salad. :P
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Chicken, yummy chicken...think I had this and the salad the most. :) Just the most delicious combo for me. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Abit blur the photo, but i can assure you the turkey was good. ;) :P Now if there was some red wine to go with it. :P
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is one of my favourite salads, now if I can get the recipe from my aunt and I'll be just fine. :P

Dim sum for breakfast.

Saturday, December 24, 2005

Started off the Christmas weekend with a really good breakfast with James, Christina and Dax at a Dim sum restaurant in Taman Megah, just a few doors away from Liana's Cafe. Got there around 9.45am and it was packed, had to stand around...looking and waiting to see which table is almost done. But the wait was worth it all, cause it's been awhile since I had dim sum for breakfast.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This was something new to me. Very interesting, rice with 'pau', and filled with abalone, and stuffs...it was GOOD! :P
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Then the usual, 'ha kau' and 'siew mai'. I think that's what it is. haha. ;)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Some rolls with erm..stuffs in them. :P Delicious.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Another type of rolls dim sum. I was just happy that I had dim sum, its been so long...Maybe I should get some dim sum for breakfast tomorrow. :P
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Not forgetting my favourite dish, brinjals or eggplants. :) A meal for me is not complete without brinjals/eggplants. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Also another usual dish for dim sum, the fishballs. :) Its ok, not really my favourite. There's 2 types of fishballs here, fried and not fried. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This was something new too, half an egg, topped with fish paste. Interesting but nothing really special about it. :)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Hong Kong style 'chee cheong fun' with prawns stuffed into them. Loved the 'sambal'.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Fried stuffs with prawns in them i think. Loved how it tasted with the mayonaise. Should have taken more of it. ;)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
My favourite dessert dish after a hearty meal of dim sum. :) Yam based and it's GOOD! :P

The launch of Project Bazooka.

Project Bazooka_La Bodega, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Keep your eyes on this new site which was just recently launched, Project Bazooka. Their tagline, "Project Bazooka is for ANYONE taking positive action to help develop the Malaysian music scene." So if you're interested, by all means...go support them. Loads of stuffs lined up for launch in the new year. alldatJazz.com might be working alongside them soon, so expect some really good gigs coming up. :)

The 2 guys behind Project Bazooka are Yuri, lead guitarist and vocals for Frequency Cannon and Khai Lee. 2 cool dudes that are really into the local music scene. Definitely a fun year ahead as I might be doing some stuffs with them, and learning from them. ;)

Drink of the night.

La Bodega_KL_Strawberry Tea, originally uploaded by hanlian.

The whole time I was at La Bodega, KL...this was what I had to drink. Shouldn't have ordered this, doesn't look that manly. haha. Oh well,as long as it taste good. :)

I like the artwork.

Troubadours - La Bodega_KL, originally uploaded by hanlian.

The man you see standing next to the beatiful artwork is Jerome Kugan. Talented musician...or erm, talented person. :) Gotta go check him out if you have the time during LifeHouse Project's Christmas Event. Saw quite alot of local artiste there during the gig, very very interesting. If you have not been to any of Troubadours and Doppelganger's gigs where they showcase anyone who has something original to share, go check them out when they come back next year 5th of February at La Bodega, KL.

Troubadours + Doppelganger = Troubaganger.

Troubadours - La Bodega_KL_Papan, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Was invited by Project Bazooka to their website launch during Troubadours and Doppelganger's gig at La Bodega, KL. It is GOOD! More of that stuffs on alldatJazz.com soon.

Busy, busy, busy.

HP Awards Night 2005, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Oh man, this week has been packed with stuffs to get done before Christmas and some work on the website. Can't wait til Christmas is over. :P Anyways, was working with Sirius again last night for HP's Awards Night at KL Hilton. Not really a difficult event except for the fact that they had some HP Idol thing going. What's with the people now? All on the bandwagon of craze for Idols?? So it was the finals and the 10 finalists were suppose to sing for the last round before they pick the top 3 winners. Some of them aren't that bad but i think i should have brought earplugs. :P

Lovely place though, maybe cause KL Hilton is still fairly new. Foods quite good too, but looking at the place...think the price will be quite good too. haha. :D

It was all good!

L-R : Mia, Kevin, Roger, Me.

Taken after the concert, and it was a great night with great music and the crowd was good. Too bad for those who didn't show up cause you guys really missed a really good show. If you don't recognize the guy that's standing next to Mia, then you have definitely not gone to many jazz gigs in town. Kevin here is a talented saxophonist, keep your ear open to this guy. :) So when is Double Take's next concert? :P

Double Take ROCKS!

Last night, Double Take had their first big concert at Stadium Negara. If you've heard them play 'live' then you know that they will not disappoint and they did not! :) The whole 1 hour and 30 minutes show was just beautiful. The setting was just nice, even though there was a little technical glitch but it was all good. :D Definitely will be waiting for their next concert. :) Thanks to Natasha and Jennifer of Brabons Entertainment, I got some really good seats. :P 3rd from from the stage...can practically see them sweat..haha. :P

Friendship Lane SuiKow.

Jalan Sahabat SuiKow, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Ok,so it doesn't look that good but i can assure you that it does taste good. :) But i think there's a few other restaurants in PJ alone that has better or just as good suikows. :)

Jalan Sahabat's Wantan Mee.

Jalan Sahabat Wantan Mee, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Like I said,i think there are a few restaurants in PJ and KL that serve better or as good as this place...guess the illusion of the waiting line and the amount of people really helped with the response of the people visiting their stall. :D

Friendship Lane?

Jalan Sahabat, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Went over to Jalan Alor area for dinner after the Double Take concert at Stadium Negara with Alex and Li Ann. They found this little stall on this lane which had quite a lot of people waiting...so they decided to try it out since the common rule to whether a restaurant is good or not is usually based on the amount of people at the restaurant and also how long the waiting list is. :D Correct?

Nice design, ei?

YF Camp 2005 - My NameTag, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Cool huh. :D Quite like this year's name tag and t-shirt design. I wonder if next year, we'll come up with even better designs and concepts. :)

The usual tourist attraction.

YF Camp 2005 - Red Building, originally uploaded by hanlian.

This was the town excursion just before we went back home after our youth camp in Melaka. It was a really wonderful camp, many things happened and quite alot of the youths were touched by God...including me, so that was really good. :) Now its just the matter of living and fulfilling the commitment and the covenants that each of us have made to God. :) Should have prayed for it to rain more cause it was really hot...so hot that, even when you've bathed with cold water, you'll be sweating after 5 minutes you get out of the shower. *phew*

Yummy steamed rice.

Sunday, December 04, 2005

Kelana Jaya - Ipoh Steam Rice, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Fancy finding such meals in town and this was spotted at Kelana Jaya. The stall itself had quite alot of cut-out articles about its specialty which is the steamed rice dishes. :) This is the one with the 'lap cheong' [chinese sausage] with chicken and rice. Really very tasty. :) Not that expensive too, just RM 4 per bowl. :) *slurp*

Rojak?

Kelana Jaya - Rojak, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Yum, yum. :D Ok,so it might not look that good but it does taste god. :D Shared this during lunch with the gang after church in Kelana Jaya. The weekend was really really pack, just finish Christmas practice and after lunch...i'm going back to Akademi Seni Kebangsaan for the guitar camp and tomorrow i'm going to Melaka for my church's youth camp from Monday til Friday. Busy busy week ahead but it was good to have something this good before i head outstation. :D
