Meeting = Makan Time.

Had Children Church Teacher's meeting at Uncle EK and Auntie MG's place just now with dinner included. :D Best thing about church meetings, there's always good food...and also good company. :)

So Auntie MG prepared nasi kandar for us this round, and it was scrumptious! This rojak made from scratch by Celine should have started the dinner but it was still good. :D
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
There were baby fishes to munch on...just mouthwatering!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Also made by Celine, the dry chillies had some pretty good 'kick' to it but only after your second helping. Went great with the curry chicken! :D

*slurp* Man, that's some really good curry chicken! :) Had myself 4 servings of it...stopped cause I was told there was ice-cream for dessert! By then, I was pretty satisfied and could fall asleep there and then. :D Almost forgot that we were suppose to be there for a meeting. :P

Kelana Jaya Nasi Lemak

KelanaJaya_NasiLemak, originally uploaded by hanlian.

It's been awhile since I checked out different nasi lemaks in town. This one right in front of Kelana Puteri Condo, i've heard a lot about so it's about time I gave it a try. :)

Pretty good, the sambal is not too bad but if it had a little more 'kick' that would have been great. but the fried chicken was yummy.

Worth a try, definitely. :D

Fried stuffs on a hot day.

SS2_FriedStuffShop, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Yes, the best so far in Petaling Jaya. The SS2 shop-in-a-van run by 2 ladies with 'pisang goreng', 'keropok lekor', and many other fried stuffs!

*yum* *yum*

If you wanna try this place out, look for Pelita, SS2 and you'll find it...can't miss it cause it's a van. :D

Outback ; Out the back!

Went to Bangsar Village's OutBack Steakhouse with my family to celebrate my sister's birthday as well as Father's Day. Bad idea! To think that they would at least be something like what I had in America but it was a let-down. Service was slow, food came out slow and it wasn't that good. Maybe it had to do with the World Cup being on the tele but it was just a repeat of Brazil vs Australia.

So no a go-go to this outlet. Not recommended at all. But I guess if you're just going there for drinks, it should be fine since their happy hour promotion is 'Buy 1, Free 1'.

Had the RibEye done medium-well but it was a little tough. Too bad lar... and the 8oz were pathetic! 8oz in America would have been humungous but not here. Too bad.

Choreography for Non-Choreographers

Went down to Central Market yesterday afternoon with Irene to check out Five Arts Centre's Choreography for Non-Choreographers. Found out about it through Pang when I was planning to have a little get-together for the few of us that went to Miri for MIJF last month.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I was pretty surprised to see so many people staying through the entire 50 minutes worth of performance even though it was drizzling and raining quite heavily before the show started.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I'm not sure if everybody understood each of the performances but it was good exposure for everyone especially for those who haven't been to a performance such as this or might never even contemplate of going.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
You can read the synopses of the 11 non-choreography pieces at the Choreography for Non-Choreographers website. A job well done, Marion D'Cruz and the rest of the gang. I guess I should have introduced myself when I shook her hand to thank her for the performance. I hope I wasn't seen as rude, not introducing myself. Oh well.

Tom Yam kung

Had dinner at Bangkok Jazz last Saturday before checking out Greg Lyons quartet and also going over to Alexis Bistro for Bruno LeFlanchec's gig.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Elyna suggested I try the prawn tom yam kung, and it was good! :D It's been awhile since I had good and a well-balanced tom yam kung. Not too sour and not too spicy but with a good 'kick' to it. :)

Ok,so the color might be a little weird but I think that's all because of my s700i. :) Anyways, the fried rice is pretty standard, maybe I should have went for the pineapple fried rice instead. :D Sure makes me hungry right now looking at these photos again. Where's my Ikea curry puffs?

Spicy Pizza.

There's just something about Alexis Bistro's pizzas that make me go back there again and again. :D

Roy never ceases to amaze me with not-on-the-menu type of pizzas.

This was a little too spicy for Elyna though, but it was all good. :D *yum* *yum*

Jazz joint hoppin'

FrenchArtFestival_NBT, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Went out with Elyna and Kor Shing last night to celebrate Kor Shing's birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kor Shing! :D

Hit a couple of spots, NBT for Bojan Z, Bangkok Jazz of course, and Alexis Bistro for Bruno LeFlanchec.

Not too bad, better than last Saturday when Julian and I tried to do the same thing but only managed to hit MezzaNotte for MezzaJazz and NBT for Jamie Wilson and The Top Room for Mr. Gambus goes straightahead. :)

It was not a good experience last night at NBT, the door-b*tches were really B*TCHES! They were rude, gave us the look and all that.

I guess we didn't have the VIP, has-loads-of-cash-to-spend look for them to treat us better. Oh well, I guess the next time I go to NBT, I'll stuff my pockets with cash, so much that they'll stick out for them to see. Or maybe just burst into the joint with a big hoo-ha and start speaking in french or something.

Hmmm...

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't that read 'Suitable for anytime of the day'?

Sounds a little weird to me...anyone care to help fix that sentence?

Gambus at Backyard?

MrGambus@Backyard, originally uploaded by hanlian.

It's been a busy busy week. Managed to take a break and catch Mr. Gambus band at Backyard Pub in Sri Hartamas.

Watched most of the England vs Trinidad & Tobago match. Man, it was quite frustrating watching England play and seeing them miss so many chances to score. Oh well, at least they won 2-0.

Now if Australia can cause a stir by beating Brazil 1-0. That would be the biggest news. :D Any prediction for that match?

Maggi in a cup?

AssamLaksaInACup, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Nope, it's assam laksa in a cup. :D

Didn't realise that you can actually find assam laksa and 'tong shui' up in Gohtong Jaya.

So during the last night of camp, Queen of the World and I went out to get food to bring back to the room for the rest of the group.

Seeing that we didn't have any bowls, we had to use cups to serve the assam laksa. I'm surprised that it wasn't that bad and at RM 4, it's pretty ok.

Now for my nasi lemak! I'm was deprived of nasi lemak when I was in camp except for breakfast on the last day but that didn't do it for me. :P

What a treat!

FrenchFest_2006_Theater, originally uploaded by hanlian.

Thanks to Paul for getting a ticket for me, I was lucky enough to catch 'Men Without Shadows' in conjuntion with the French Art Festival at the Panggung Bandaraya in KL.

No idea where that is? Neither did I but after googling for the map, I realised how easy it was to get to the place, just in front of Dataran Merdeka.

I actually enjoyed myself very much during this play despite the initial notion that most plays are boring. At the end, I felt for the characters. It was that good. Really enjoyed Himanshu Bhatt's character, Canoris, a greek.

The set design were fabulous and quite simple too but it works just fine for the play.

If you missed this one, you can still catch it when they move down to Johor for the Johor Art Festival on the 20th of this month, if I'm not mistaken. Just check kakiseni.com for more information.

Man, now I wish I was down in Singapore this weekend for the Singapore Art Festival. Instead, I have to go for a church family camp up in genting till Tuesday. *dang*

I mean... whee, I'm going for family camp in Genting. :-|

Another personality test.

Friday, June 02, 2006

This is one of the few personality test that I've taken that's quite interesting.
Mouse over the boxes to learn more about the traits that the colors represent. You can take the personality test here. And if you are too free, you can also read my report from this test. Quite interesting. My Personal Dna Report If you know me and have read the report, let me know if it's true about me. :D
