You have gotta check this radio show out! Its good! :P I got a chance to see them do their magic at the console during their 3 hour show last night. Amazing is all I can say about them! :) Read more about them here. You can tune in online to them right here. More photos of them working their magic on their lifelogger site. What a privilege to be there with them during their show. :D It was really fun!
Guess what did I get from Anita Sarawak or 'Kak Nita' when I met her last night at the TraxxFM studio during Jazz Selecta. Her husband, Mahathir and her was really friendly. :) Now if only I can figure out how to use this cookbook! :P
As usual and as any chinese family, we have the chinese new year's eve dinner. The roads were so clear and free of traffic, not like the usual peak-hour traffic jams. Man, I love holidays like these. :P Travelling from SS2 to Mutiara Damansara was a breeze! Unlike during Christmas eve and the roads were jam packed with people going everywhere but staying at home. ;) I was trying to get to my parents' place for dinner, not going out to party! :P
Anyways, dinner was quite early because my grandmother's dinner time is usually around 6pm. So as children and grandchildren, we have to eat at that time.
Pretty basic and usual Chinese New Year [CNY]'s eve dinner dishes. Don't know what this is called but its just cucumber with chicken gizzards and livers. Love this dish especially when it is wrapped with lettuce. :D
Then chicken, one of the many 'must-have' dishes in any special chinese occasion meals. Love it when it's cooked with wine and herbs. :) Yummy!
With chicken then there is duck. :) Don't really fancy duck as much because of the extra chewing involved. ;) :P Still, it's all good! :D
Ahhh, pork. :P Fattening as ever! Man,after this I really have to get back to some form of exercise...any type of exercise! :P
Prawns...with garlic and asparagus. I think this dish is suppose to be eaten on the 1st day of CNY but it doesn't really matter when you have it, I guess. :)
How could it be considered as a chinese meal if there wasn't any soup. :) *yum* *yum* Good stuff!
I wonder what other dishes will I have this CNY. :) It's great to be living here in Malaysia huh, loads of good food, every time and anywhere.. :) I just hope when my family goes for our annual big family trip, we'll be having more good food! :P This time the whole family, including my grandmother and my mom's siblings are going over to Lumut for 3 days. I really hope I can get connected there. I seriously have no idea what can you actually do in Lumut! Any ideas?? :P
Oh well, have a great holiday, people. :) I will be coming around to collect my 'angpows' soon, so get them ready! :P So let the fireworks and the feasting begin! ;) Happy chinese new year. May the new year bring you more happiness and blessing.
Thanks to Ethan and Valerie, the Christmas mime and skit team was invited for an appreciation dinner by the couple at Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya.
There was quite a big group of us there, think about 20 of us. Ok,so I wasn't part of the mime nor the skit team but Valerie had extra seats and I did help a little so I got to go too. ;) :P Thanks alot, Val. ;)
As usual, you'll get the standard soup but I have to say this mushroom soup is quite delicious! :D Kinda skipped the breads though cause I didn't just want to eat bread at a buffet. :D
Then you have your salad bar, salmon and sushi. :P The salmon was really yummy! ;) Hidden underneath the fresh greens. Simple items to start off the glutton fest. ;)
The oysters I skipped cause I can't stand the smell, even with loads of lemon and tabasco sauce. *ugh* Serious puke-generator! :P But the salmon was really good so I stuffed myself silly with the salmon instead. ;)
Moving on, I tried most of their meat items, [clockwise : beef, fish, lamb]. The beef was a little overdone but the lamb leg was good. Maybe not as good as the one that Lay Yan at Bumbu Bali but good enough.
Then it was seafood. :D [clockwise:greens, rendang crab, green curry prawns]. Maybe crabs in 'rendang' style isn't really that a great idea but the green curry prawns was nice. :) Not too spicy, just nice. *yum* *yum* :P
Ok, so there are more stuffs on the table but I didn't dare to take photos, just in-case they chase me out before I could even start eating. ;) There was a booth making pasta and a booth for malaysian style noodles, rice, chicken, tempoyak[fermented durian], bread and the usual malaysian fare.
So after my meat and seafood craze, fruits was a wonderful remedy for all the meat and stuffs! :P Too bad the strawberries were sour and the whole mixed fruit thing wasn't really that sweet. Can skip this if you do go for the buffet at Holiday Villa's coffee house.
Wow, good presentation. :D Now if only they had provided a chocolate fountain to go with those fruits-on-sticks. :P
The cake was really wonderful! :P But at this point, I was pretty stuffed and that was all that I could take in. ;) The orange jelly on the left and the orange creme brule was ok. Too much oranges for me in one sitting though. :D
Managed to sneak a shot of the dessert table. :P They really should have the chocolate fountain thing going! ;)
So the night ended with the twins, Daniel and Danny telling us jokes about what happened in school to them and their friends with us laughing loudly with coffee and tea to end the night. Man, my stomach still hurt from all that laughing! :P See if you can tell them apart, the older is Daniel and the younger, Danny.
It was a fun and stomach-filling night of good food and great company. :) I think we made quite a racket with all the laughing and the twins standing up and doing their acts. :P
Beginning this year, the Children Church is going to celebrate the birthdays of each child for each month and we started off with a Chicken Little cake. How cute! ;) It really does remind me of Patrick...but he really does not like it when people call him that. :P Poor kid. :D
Look, it's Amelia again. :) Cute girl beginning to be quite a vain-pot and a drama queen to boot. :P Now i wonder whom she learnt those traits from. ;)
Yup, Bumbu Bali's the name. :) Quite a nice restaurant in Puchong, a bit pricy but it's all good. :) Went over there for dinner with Ethan, Val, Joseph, Lay Yan, James, Christina and Shane before going over to James' place again for movie. :) This time we watched Moulin Rouge. It's suppose to be a romantic drama musical but I have to say the amount of songs that they spoof was enough to make me categorize it as a comedy as well. :P Ok, fine...so the movie ended on a sad note but it's quite funny. haha. :P If you have not watched it, go check it out and see if you can recognize the songs that they spoof in the movie. :D
Decorated with loads of Bali inspired umbrellas, tables and stuffs. :) Worth a visit once and awhile. They even offer western food as well on top of their eastern fare.
This cinnammon chocolate drink was quite nice, according to Ethan. Maybe I'll try this the next round. :)
But seeing that they offer orangina which is pretty difficult to come by nowadays, I ordered it. :) Love this drink...I still remember when I was young, this was on sale almost everywhere but now, can't really find them anymore. I wonder why. :)
Now this is interesting. ;) Haven't seen an egg with almost 2 egg yokes. Cool, huh?
Simply salad with grilled chicken but the spicy sauce was wonderful! :) One word of advice, just don't over do the sauce on the salad. :D
One of the few really tasty beef rendang around town. :) Not too tough and chewy, just nice. The sambal is pretty good too, maybe not spicy enough but guess that's ok. It looks like nasi lemak but it's not and you can choose between white or yellow rice. Writing about it makes me wanna go back there tonight for dinner. haha. :P
This is just mouth-watering delicious! :) Quite pricy at RM29 but it has chicken, calamari, fish, some chicken on a stick thing, and erm...white or yellow rice. Might be a bit difficult to finish by one person but maybe if you're really hungry you could. :) The fish was done really well, really really tasty.
Lay Yan ordered the chicken/lamb combo and the lamb was great! So if spicy rice and stuffs isn't your thing, there's still some yummy western food to choose from. :) Man,this is really making me hungry! :P
Yes, I was sitting this close to the stage, all thanks to the good people at InterGlobal Music, Malaysia. She was playing to a full house, didn't realise she had quite a huge fan base here. :) Read more about her gig on alldatJazz.com soon. :)
I was quite happy when the time came again McDonald'sprosperity burger made an appearance. Too bad the beef version of it isn't that good...and looks pretty erm...sloppy? :P Oh well, there's still the chicken version, hopefully that'll be better. :) At least their grill chicken foldover is still good. :P Had this before i headed over to Hard Rock Cafe to cover Emi Fujita's gig.
Man, I can start a collection soon. :P Anyways, I'm beginning to like this album, very nice and easy listening. :) Good for people who just want to listen to something to relax and get their minds off stuffs. :) Check out alldatJazz.com soon for the album review and her debut gig at Hard Rock Cafe tomorrow at 8.30pm.
:) I was given the opportunity to cover Emi Fujita's album launch press conference at Hard Rock Cafe just now. Thanks alot, Eugene. :P Free CD, a preview of her songs and FOOD! :D What a wonderful day, i have to say. ;)
Now I'm not really a big fan of these tagging posts but sbanBoy tagged me so I guess I'll give it a try since I have a bit time to spare now. :) So here goes.
First of all, remove the blog in the no.1 spot from the following list and push everyone up one place. Then add your own blog to the bottom spot.
1. Simply Hantam
2. JoeC Crash Pad
3. Ramblings
4. Just passing by
5. dDoinkster Speaks
Then, answer the following questions :
What were I doing 10 years back :
I was still in Form 2, studying in SMK Taman Bukit Maluri. Still playing softball and on the defending champions' team of the annual MSSKL Softball competition. Can't really remember much but I do remember being a librarian in school and i think the only librarian that does not have a library card. haha. :P Still cycling on my mountain bike almost every evening to FRIM with my cycling 'kakis' until my mountain bike which I used to go up to Genting Highlands when I finished Standard 6 got stolen. Then it pretty much went downhill after that. :)
Stopped most of my sport activities, until I got myself another mountain bike. Oh yeah, i was failing maths pretty badly. :) Didn't do very well cause I was playing a fool, what a big mistake that was! :P I still remember having loads of fun though, so that's a pretty good sign of a good secondary school experience. :D
What were I doing 1 year back :
My relatives from US came back for holiday and I met my cousin's beautiful daughter, Halle for the first time. :) What a wonderful time that was. :) Oh how I miss her. Then I came to know about alldatJazz.com and I met Eugene during the Sunrise Jazz & Rhythm Festival and ever since then I've been working with him on the website and this year is going to be really exciting. :) We're going to try to set up a company and see where things will lead. :) Very very interesting times ahead for me that's for sure. :) Prayfully, things will go as planned and God will bless this partnership of ours. :)
Then Christmas came strolling by and I was asked by Andrew to help out and I ended up singing in the choir on the altos part and taking care of all the backstage stuffs. It was pretty intense because quite alot of things went wrong...well,almost everything went wrong except for the lightings which was good. :) Wouldn't want the whole ballroom to be in total darkness now, would we? :P So i guess last year was a pretty eventful year too. :) Oh, my blog was one year old on August and that was when I changed over to this current template. :) Love this template. :P
5 snacks I enjoy...
1. Ikea Curry puffs.
2. Mini Magnums.
3. McDs Strawberry Sundaes.
4. Potato Wedges.
5. Auntie Anne's Pretzels.
5 songs I know all the lyrics off my head right now...
None. :P Doesn't say much for my memory huh. ;) haha. :P But then again, the songs that I listen to are mostly jazz/fingerstyle stuffs and most of them do not have lyrics... :D
5 things I would do if I am a millionaire...
1. Invest part of it to make more money.
2. Give 15% of it to church.
3. Send my parents on a 2 week tour to anywhere they want to go.
4. Pay off whatever loans my parents have.
5. Buy myself a new Sony Ericsson W900i + a 2GB memory stick.
5 bad habits...
1. PROCRASTINATION!
2. Speak before thinking.
3. Eat too much/being a glutton.
4. Peel off skins around my fingernails.
5. Think too much about my past...about things that I've done, should have done, shouldn't have done.
5 things I love to do...
1. Spending time in worship.
2. Playing the guitar while worshipping God.
3. Being able to play my best while serving God in worship.
4. Doing my best in whatever I've set my mind to do and being able to come up with results that I've proud of.
5. Being able to spend at least a month on islands, scuba-diving, snorkelling and just being a beachbum.
5 things you would never wear, buy or get new again...
None, I'm pretty adventerous when it comes to clothing and fashion. :) So I guess it all depends on whether I'm fat during that period of time when I go shopping and what fits me. :D
5 favourite "toys"...
1. Robosapien V2. [Don't have it but it's on my wishlist!]
2. Roboraptor. [Don't have this either but it's also on my wishlist! Anyone gracious enough to get me both of them? :P]
3. Apple PowerBook G4 - 15".
4. Segway HT.
5. Ibanez semi acoustic guitar.
Then you select five people to pass it on :
1. Julie the Biscuit.
2. Audio Addiction.
3. Darren.
4. Swee San.
5. Justina.
Ok,now nobody on the list is obligated to do this and whoever who has the time and wants to do it just post on my comments when you've uploaded it on your blog so I can swing over and read it. :) Have fun.
Yeah, that was almost how long I had to spend sitting at my regular hair salon, The Lab in Sri Hartamas today. Got my curls back and this time is more curly than ever. How curly you might ask...well,if you have seen the grumpy cat photo that I use on my blogger profile, thats pretty much how my hair looks currently. :) I just hope I can still style it again to the similar style after I wash my hair. :D I guess to obtain something, one have to make some sacrifices.
Ken has been my hairstylist for quite awhile now since Queen of the World introduced me to him. Worth every penny if you ask me. :) Now if I can figure out how to sleep without messing up the hairdo. ;) :P Don't you hate it when you can't style your hair back to the way it looked when you just left the hair salon? :P Ok, ok...so abit the vain lar..but hey,it cost quite a bit so should at least try to keep it looking good as long as possible, right? :D Hmm,sounds a bit the 'kiasu' pulak. :P
Finally got myself a decent tuner from Harmony Music in Damansara Uptown. :) I was thinking about the Boss TU-12 Chromatic Tuner but it now retails at RM 360 [my fried got it for RM 120 but that was like 10 years ago or so :D], so compared to this intellitouch which only retails at RM 195...the price pretty much helped me decide which one to get. :) Both are really good guitar tuners, don't get me wrong but I don't think I"m in a position now to pay that amount for a guitar tuner yet. ;) :P Pretty happy with the results thoughof this intelliTouch...was really fun trying to tune my guitar with the new toy. :D comes with its own case too. ;)
Thanks to Kor Shing and the good people at S.E.A Cuisine, I got my very first organizer of the year. Well, not that I use it because I have my trusty Sony Clie, which by the way is already super out-dated and obsolete. *hint* *hint* Need new PDA! :P This would be most ideal for me...haha. :P Anyone willing to get it for me, anyone? :D
Hmmm, didn't realise that it was going to be actually foot long. hahaha.. :) Well, it's not too bad but I think I enjoy the one at Dave's Deli better. I guess the missing tabasco sause had something to do with it. :P
Oh man,I was Long Black, SS2 for almost 3 hours with Eugene talking about the future of alldatJazz.com. Well,at least we got something out of it. Now I got a few things to get done before the end of February. This drink wasn't that good even though it was fresh. :) Should have asked for some ice. :)
What a way to start the new year. :) Ok, so these Dunkin' Donuts aren't Krispy Kremes but what can you do when you can find Krispy Kremes here. I remember when I was in US visiting my uncle and aunt in Boise, they brought me to Krispy Kremes for the first time, it was heaven! :P Oh well at least here, we have the peanut butter and jelly filling [top left corner]. So that's a small, very small consolation to Krispy Kremes. :)
After we got back from the waterfall and had dinner, Nelson, Yvonne and I went over to PJ Hilton to look at trains. :) Each year near Christmas, they would build this elaborate train set filled with ads and trains. Really interesting to look at. :)
Like I said, very elaborate train set. :) I wonder how much it cost to get all this up? :)
Filled with tunnels and bridges and hot air ballons. :)
Train stations and the trains do stop there and wait for the other trains to pass. :) Cool.
There's even a little township there in front of the train station. :)
A church with a couple getting married too. :D Pretty detailed stuffs.
Ok, so maybe some of it aren't really to scale but its still nice to look at. The barrel is almost the size of that CAT...but it still looks really good, right? :)
Here's a little video I took for the train leaving the station. :)
A cottage thing with workers. :)
Those little people living there sure are rich. :) New Minis at their disposal. :D
They really pay quite a lot of attention to the details of each item...well,most of them...I could spend an afternoon just looking at them. :) And could Celcom STOP putting their 'This is Celcom Territory' crap everywhere? Its getting annoying, first it was funny but now it's a pain in the @$$!
They even included the train-operators in them. :)
Not forgetting Santa Clause too. haha. :D Poor guy must have lost his reindeeers and sleigh. Hope he doesn't miss his deadline. haha. ;)
Nice house for the train operators. :)
Look hot air ballons. :) Trucks and all too.
The train repair area I guess. :) Love this part of the train set. :)
Now this part is new, I think. Didn't see this last year. Now this really makes it look pretty life-like. :) Wonder what will they have next year. :) I mean...this year. :P

About Me
"I love my name Brian because sometimes people would misspell my name and call me Brain. That's like a free compliment and you don't even have to be smart to notice it."
