Was over at Bangkok Jazz for a meeting with a bunch of people. Thankfully, the trip downtown wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. :D

If you have not been to Bangkok Jazz at Chulan Square...this is how the side of it looks like. :D

Got there a little early than expected, so we sat downstairs with Kor Shing and Elyna, big shots but super friendly people of Bangkok Jazz...had some drinks while waiting for the rest to get there for the meeting. Tried to be artsy-fartsy but I think not with a 1.3megapixel phone camera. :D

Anyways, meeting carried on and when we were almost done, Elyna being the good host asked if we wanted dinner. :) A little late but still good. :P I was kinda hoping to swing over to Jalan Imbi for some BBQ chicken [which i miss very much. It's been a while since I had it] but this was just fine. :P The tofu was DELICIOUS, just as good as it looks. :)

The green curry was good but maybe because I love spicy food...it didn't have enough kick for me. haha. :P

Your much needed greens in a meal. :) *yum* *yum*

I loved this fish...the sauce goes so well with it. :) I had quite a lot of it. :P Which kinda made me look like a glutton. ;) Or maybe I am one. Who's to say if one's a glutton or not, right? :)

The 'money bags' or wantons. :) Simple and standard fried wantons.

As usual, me being me...not knowing any of the protocols while in a sort-of business meeting, I ate as my usual self while the more important people has already stopped. Oh well,at least now I've learnt something new while being in a meeting with big shots. :)
This came after the VIPs left and a few of us stayed back to chit-chat and hang a little. :) The salmon was ok but the dip was WONDERFUL! Yes, even though the yellow blob of erm...thingamagic looks a little disgustion but trust me when I say it is super tasty! :) *slurp*

Ended the night with a fine cup of latte. :) Good coffee but by the time we left, I so wanted my pillow and bed. :P So if you've not been to Bangkok Jazz before, take my word for me. You have to check that place out. :)

Event finished during rush hour and a few of us decided that we DID NOT want to get caught in the traffic jam so we went over to KLCC to have a little drink which turned into dinner because of the heavy rain that stopped us from thinking of going home. So we went to Little Penang Cafe for dinner.

It's been a while since I've been to Little Penang Cafe. I remember that used to be a time when I would frequent the Midvalley MegaMall branch.

My usualy drink, ice lemon tea came with lime on the side. :P I almost wanted to throw it into the drink...until I realised that it was a slice of lime and not lemon. :) I was that tired! Why ice lemon tea,you might ask...I think it helps with digestion and since I can't control the amount that I eat...it really helps. :P

If I remember well, their rojak is pretty good and my memory served me right. :) But for the price, it was that reasonable...oh well,we're in KLCC...I guess everything here is more expensive. :)

Dinner was a little spicy but tasty. :) But again, for the price...I think I could have gotten 2 bowls elsewhere. haha. :P

Yes, my alarm rang aroung 5.30am...and I got up, changed it to 6am but I totally missed it and only woke up around 7.15am with Francis calling me. Not the first time that I was late. :P Man,I've gotta do something about that. ;)

Picked up Francis around 7.30am and rushed downtown during rush hour. Took us 1 whole hour just to get to Mandarin Oriental. But at least I managed to take a photo of the Twin Towers while waiting for the traffic lights to turn green. :)

Thankfully, we managed to get ready most of the things the night before but we still had to get there early just to prepare. Fairly simple event, a little boring with some hiccups here and there. Haven't heard of this BEA company before but their logo and introductory video was pretty cool. Good concept. :)

Lunch was pretty quick...the 'rendang' beef was good, the vegetarian mousaka was interesting as well, lamb and their mushroom soup was really good...Gotta give their mushroom soup a try again. :) *yum* *yum*
These events are turning into feasting times. :P hehe.

Yeah, after finding out that I was at a place which I was not suppose to be at yet...drove all the way back to the office in Kelana Jaya to help out before going over to Mandarin Oriental with Francis, Louise, Joanne and Siew Peng to set up for the event today.

That was the amount of stuffs we had to collate into as many folders as we could with just 4 people working on it. And to think I could leave early. ;) Fat chance. :P

So finally around 11pm, we had our dinner/supper. :) Love the bread that they provided with the dips. :) *slurp*

The bread goes very well with this wild mushroom soup too... ;)

Delicious char koay teow with fried rice 'kampung' style with some 'satay'. :) Maybe it's because we're so hungry that everything just tasted really good. :P

Briyani rice with curry chicken hidden beneath the rice and the nice garlic dip for the bread. :)
I guess there's nothing to complain about having to stay back late to help set up since the food was just so good. :P hehe. ;) The worst thing about it was because I only got home around 1am and I had to get back to the hotel around 7.30am. Did not make it at all! :P

Ever drove to a place where you thought you were suppose to be at but when you get there, you find out that it's not where you're suppose to be? That was what happened to me, early in the morning...drove all the way to Mandarin Oriental, through the traffic jam just to find out that I was suppose to be Kelana Jaya instead. Oh, what a feeling.

It seems that 'BarbeQue' is a common mispelling of 'Barbecue'....well, according to the dictionary available on my mac. ;) Anyways, was over at James & Christina's place again for a little barbecue dinner on the hill. :) Thank God, it wasn't raining and a little breeze was going. :D Ok,it did rain but it was almost time for us to call it a day when it did pour. :) So everything worked out just fine. :)

Started the night with some luncheon meat. ;) Yummy. :P The foil could have been a bad idea but it was useful...for a little while. :)

Another look at the luncheon meat cooking with a lovely night view of Puchong and erm...Subang, I think. :D

So Shane, Ching Choo, Nelson & Yvonne was there to stuff ourselves with food while the mosquitos fed on our blood through our legs. :P I think a lot of cars that drove by was wondering what the heck were we doing out there. :P

James and Shane built the barbecue pit on Saturday night and had time to fix up a small table as well. :) Wasn't strong enough to be used properly though...i think. ;)

We had a lot of food for 7 people actually. :P Fried rice, chicken wings, sausages, fishballs, luncheon meat, bread, garlic butter spread, apple crumble and ice-cream. ;) Oh, pinapples, and capsicums as well. Delicious!

I like this photo the most, maybe it's because of the view behind the barbecue pit, either that it's because there's more food on this photo than the rest. haha. :D

Yes, I was at Avanti's twice this weekend. Only because I was there to catch Julian's Happy People Quintet and Dr. Chan's JJ Jazz Ensemble. And I definitely was not disappointed. :D It was nice to meet Juan Pablo again after meeting him for the first time during ASK's Guitar Camp last year in December. Took his class on Latin Classical...sounds boring but I learnt more stuffs about bossa nova and other latin stuffs...very interesting class indeed! :)
So anyways, I got there early because we reserved a table but in the end it was only me at the table...thankfully, Sun and Vincent joined me later. Plus, Julian and Dennis of Mosaic joined me as well. :)
While waiting for the music to start, ordered me some dinner. :)

As with any respectable Italian restaurant, they will serve you bread, olive oil and vinegar. :) I think I've had better but oh well, anything with olive oil is fine with me. :D

Ok,so it's pink but I didn't know it was going to be pink when the good people at Avanti recommended it to me. ;) :P It taste better than it looks. It's called Pink Freezy. I did not know the name as well, thank you very much. :P

My main course, Black Ink Fettucine. Delicious dish with prawns, clams and scallops. :) Thank goodness, it was not in tomato sauce. ;)
So if you want a restaurant in the PJ/Subang area with good food and 'live' music, give Avanti a try...on the weekends that is. Weekdays, they have a group dressed up as the kitchen staff, sings and uses cooking utensils as instruments. :D

Crazy enough, after Happy People Quintet's gig at Avanti, I joined the group for a little 'after gig' meal at Kim Gary at Sunway Pyramid. So fab 5 from Happy People Quintet along with Sun, Vincent, bassist of GruvAvenue and me went for a very early breakfast.

So the set meals come with dessert and at 1am in the morning, you can still get the set meal. :) Crazy! :P

This is supposed to be one of their famous drinks, the tea and coffee mix.

Then you have borsh soup, which is something that I've not tried yet but heard a lot about. :)

Not too bad for a restaurant that's suppose to close at 2am but at 1am, the kitchen is still open. :) Oh, this...I think is the pork noodles.

Then there's their signature dishes, the cheese baked rice and as usual with pork. :P It's a Hong Kong eatery, with Chinese people...pork is a must-have. :P

This lemon honey drink is pretty good, nice for an early morning breakfast drink. ;)
Kim Gary's signature sure-to-give-you-a-heart attack french toast. Look at all the oil. :P I wonder why all the really tasty stuffs, are usually the stuff that will most likely kill you. ;)

I opted for the more healthy dish, the beef and egg sandwich. Then again, eating at 1am is not going to be a healthy thing to do, is it? :P
It was fun hanging out with them when they aren't playing. Saw a different side of them. :)

Finally got to quench my curiosity of Pizza Hut's new Atlantis stuffed crust pizza. 'Imagine tempura prawns with grilled eggplants! Coupled with italian herb sauce, tuna, onions, tomatoes, and mozarella cheese in a crust coated with parmesan cheese' That's written on their website. Man,what a load of crap. :P
I should have known not to order it...I mean, at least Dominos is a better fast food delivery type pizza compared to Pizza Hut. What the heck was I thinking? :P

Here's a look at the Atlantis stuffed crust pizza. I really love eggplants [brinjals] and prawns but even though it was on the pizza, I still did not like it. *UGH*

And as though that wasn't enough, I ordered the 'Add-On D' that comes with a garlic bread and a cheese baked meatballs in spicy masala sauce. Bad choice!!
I think ordering this pizza was mainly because I though Pizza Hut would have gotten their act together but I was wrong. ;) It's a lot like drinking a 7-11 slurpee, first few sips, you're happy you had it but when you accidentally take a large sip and brain-freeze. *OUCH*
So you tell yourself... 'ok, no more of this.' Time passed and you thought, 'Hey, maybe they've improved the slurpee...I should give it a try again.' Guess what, brain-freeze again. :) Moral of the story, if you got burned the first time, it's very likely you'll get burned the second time. ;) Don't get burned.

Thanks to a friend of mine, a bunch of us went to Regent Hotel's The Brasserie in Bukit Bintang for dinner. It was heavy traffic in Petaling Jaya around 5pm because of the freak downpour which flooded quite a few roads and it took me a while to get home from a meeting at Sirius where I got soaked just trying to get to my car.
Thinking that it'll be a big drag just to get downtown during rush hour, I was hesitant but I guess its the company for the evening that matters so I drove out anyway. I really pity the people that was trying to get out of KL because...well, I think this photo here says it all. :)

See how high the water level was in the photo and also the jam packed road, filled with cars trying to get out of the city centre. Thank goodness, it was a drizzle when I took this photo instead of a heavy downpour else KL will be like Kelantan.

So dinner at 7pm was not going to happen as planned but I got there earlier than the rest nonetheless, but there was a friend that got there earlier than me so we just hanged out at the lobby, catching up. :)

The rest got there around 8pm and dinner began. :P What a relief! I didn't have time for lunch today and I was already starving byu 7pm. :P

The layout of the buffet line was really nice, accessible and I couldn't decide where to start! :P

So I picked up some salmon, tuna, prawns, some salmon wrapped with beef and some oysters which I though was cooked but apparently not. Not a big fan of oysters. Can't take the smell and the texture! *BLEH* :P But the rest was pretty good. :)

They had a vast variety of dishes, different cuisines on the menu to choose from. It was a feast for the eyes as well as for my stomach. :P

There were also some tapas stuffs to choose from like cheese with tomato, beef, fish and also tempura which was kind of the wrong combination but I just couldn't resist. :P I love tempura! ;)

I did find this quite interesting. :) Never was I served ice lemon tea in this manner. :D Yummy. If I only knew that the soft drinks were free-flow...I wouldn't have wasted my time with the ice lemon tea. ;)

So after all the starters, it was quite tough to plan out my main course. :P So I just took whatever I fancied. Duck in orange sauce, chicken, some greens, potatos and snowfish in cream sauce. The snowfish was absolutely amazing! I could just spend the whole night just having that alone! :D Delicious! The duck and chicken was good too but a little to common for my taste. :P

This was quite interesting beef stuffed with cheese. A little filling but quite interesting. :)

On to the grill section. :P They had quite a selection of meat to choose from and I decided that it might be difficult for me to pick so I asked the chef to give me one of each item that's available. ;) He must have thought that I was a big 'kiasu' fella. :P Oh well, it's a RM 65++ buffet dinner...and since I've not been here before, I shall try EVERYTHING. :P

So there it is, squid, beef, lamb, snowfish, salmon, chicken and erm...scallops. :) It was good! ;) More of the beef, lamb and snowfish, the rest was common. :)

The lamb was already done, sitting there waiting for people to come order it. :D It was delicious! ;) A little dab of mint sauce and mouth-watering! :P

Another look at the meat from the grill...all laid out nicely to be consumed by me... :P

After dinner, my friend's uncle who is the art director at Regent Hotel took us on a little tour of the hotel. :) What a privilege it was. We got to tour the newly renovated Oggi that's fitted with artworks done by my friend's uncle. It was a lovely place, recommended for a lovely evening spent with your loved ones. :)

Filled with artwork, a bar that changes color, drapes and curtains. A wonderful place and the food is great, so I've heard. ;) So go check it out and remember to bring me along. :P Even their business card is well-done. Good concept. :)

We were also brought up to the 18th floor to check out the 'The Executive Club' which used to be a hang-out place for the Sultan of Brunie...that's what was told to me. :) The view from the club was just fantastic but it'll cost you quite a bit just to get in. ;) Because to get in, you'll have to be a guest staying in the 17th to 19th floor and a room might cost around RM 483 per person. :) So it was a privilege to be able to get in to just take a look...and that's one of the reasons why I didn't take any photos cause it would have been rude to do so. :D

So it was a wonderful evening with good food and good company. Spent the evening catching up with one another...just lovely despite the traffic jam and heavy rain. And I didn't realise that Traxx FM bought an advertisment space on a barrier in a parking lot next to the Regent Hotel. :) Interesting, at least it's working cause it caught my eye. ;)
